Join Us on October 14 for An Evening of Awards

The 63rd Annual Excellence in Journalism Awards Gala will take place on October 14, 2021, starting at 7 p.m. CST.

This year, the gala is once again virtual but still promises to bring the excitement and intrigue of years past. This year’s program, produced by Renaissance Publishing, is available for download so that you can follow the awards show in sequence. Please look through it as you will see the list of awards finalists as well as our deserving lifetime achievement recipients, TV Anchor and Reporter Nancy Parker and Editorial Cartoonist Walt Handelsman. We will celebrate their career achievements at what we hope will be an in-person event next year, and the board has discussed the possibility of adding a third recipient as we did not recognize lifetime achievement last year.


Our celebrity hosts, Doug Mouton of WWL-TV and Fletcher Mackel of WDSU-TV, will broadcast this year’s event live from the campus of Loyola University, announcing winners in all of the various categories of our annual competition, and newly elected Press Club President David Thaddeus Baker will deliver remarks about about the club and this remarkable year as well.
