The Press Club of New Orleans is making three $2,500 scholarships available to qualified journalism and public relations students at the college level. The scholarships are open to students who graduated high school in the Metro New Orleans area* attending either in-state or out-of-state colleges. The scholarships, underwritten in part by proceeds from annual Press Club fundraisers, will be awarded to rising sophomore, junior or senior college-level students enrolled in public relations or print or broadcast journalism programs.
To be considered, the applicant must submit:
- A completed scholarship application (download application)
- A brief written statement outlining the applicant’s course of study, career goals and financial need
- Cumulative GPA
- Three to five examples of published broadcast work, including newspaper stories, columns, editorials and videos (videos must be uploaded to YouTube with URL link included – all non-video work must be submitted as a PDF or URL, if applicable). Public relations candidates may submit samples of strategic communications writing such as press releases, backgrounders, brochures, PSAs and newsletters.
- Application and accompanied work must be submitted online via Submittable.
Winners will be notified in advance. Recipients and their guests will be invited and recognized at the Press Club of New Orleans’ annual awards gala; time and location will be announced at a later date.
